Our mission exists to provide a safe place for veterans, their families, and active duty to process the unique challenges faced by the military community. The horses are used as a forgiving metaphor for their obstacles. Each horse has a rescue story, and this connects the service member or family member to a horse. Together, they overcome their difficult odds to be the best versions of themselves, displaying unimaginable resilience and perseverance to life a fuller, happier life.
A Little About Our Rescue
"Talking isn't doing. It is a kind of good deed to say well; and yet words are not deeds." -Shakespeare
Jennifer Wolf, MA Military Psychology, opened her rescue in honor of her husband who passed away from his 3rd tour in Iraq. SFC Robert T Wolf, US Army, Deceased, had 3 passions; his son and Jen, soldiers' mental health, and prevention of cruelty to animals. When he passed, Jen returned to school to become an equine assisted therapist, combining both her and her husband's passions of rescuing the horses in need, and allowing a safe place for our soldiers and vets to navigate their difficult obstacles with the most intuitive and gracious being there is; the horse. Since 2019, the official start of the nonprofit, Destinacion's Therapy & Maybell's Mission, Jen has helped 100s horses and 1000s of folks in need of reintegration and self-regulation. Maybell's Mission, (the equine side) named after her first mustang, is honored to help animals of all backgrounds and breeds. Wild mustangs, pedigreed, and up to the old man backyard pet are in its book of saves. Destinacion's Therapy (the therapy side), named after her love, her Arabian known as Red, provides men and women with PTSD, TBIs, grief, suicidal ideation, guilt, shame, survivor's guilt, and any military affiliated trauma a safe place to process their pain. All who come to Destinacion's Therapy & Maybell's Mission let these magnificent creatures see them through their hardest of moments. Together, they heal, and they walk as one on a new path of mental strength, resilience and perseverance. In addition to the therapy and rescue, they provide equine educational groups to help keep as many horses as possible from dangerous situations teaching proper care and holding nutritional feeding seminars, fundraisers, open houses, and they hold trauma groups for the men and women in uniform, both enlisted and retired. Their efforts have never tired, and in honor of the greatest hero Jen knows, she will continue to grow and fight and win the battle.
